プロ野球が開幕しました！

先日たまたま僕が小学生の時に作っていた
ワールドスタンプブックミスターベースボールを見つけました。
もう捨てていたと思っていたので
発見してすごく嬉しかったです。そして懐かしかったです。

巻頭に川上監督と村山実のメッセージが載っていたのですが、
村山のメッセージを読んで僕は心の中で泣きました。
野球のすばらしさ、男と男の戦いのすばらしさ、
全力を尽くすことのすばらしさ。
そのすべてがこの一文に凝縮されています。

昭和の日本プロ野球は熱かった！

私はどんなときでも勝負します。男は、なにものをも恐れず戦い続けることだと思っています。私のもっとも闘志を燃やすライバルは、長嶋茂雄でした。彼との勝負ほど私の胸を熱くし、体の中からムラムラとファイトが燃えたぎることはありませんでした。

苦いこともありました。例えば、天覧試合で長嶋選手にサヨナラ・ホームランを打たれたのも、そのひとつです。しかし、思い切って勝負したあとには悔いはありません。あのときも、晴れの舞台で力いっぱい投げたあと、結果は敗れました。しかし、長嶋選手が、あのものすごいファイトで私に向かってくる。そして、私もあらんかぎりの力を振りしぼって投げた。その喜びの方が大きかったのです。

そして、敗れたあとは、必ず次の機会には勝つぞ、と闘志を燃やします。長嶋選手からは、記念すべき三振を二つもとっています。 1500と2000個目の三振がそれです。私はそれをどうしても、日本一の打者長嶋から取りたかったのです。

予告までして、それを実現したとき、ほんとうに心からバンザイと叫びたい気持でした。野球をやってよかった、投手になってよかった。

野球は男のスポーツです。勝負の楽しさがいっぱいのスポーツです。その野球へ幼いころから、夢をふくらませるかぎり、日本のベースボールはますます盛んになっていくことでしょう。

The Japanese baseball season officially began!

The other day, I unexpectedly found "The World Stamp Book - Mr.Baseball" which I was making when I was a school boy. As I thought I had already thrown it away, I was very glad that I found it, and I felt nostalgic.

At the beginning of this book, there are messages from Manager Kawakami and Mr.Minoru Murayama. I cried within myself when I read Murayama's message. Wonderfulness of baseball, splendidness of a battle between men, and gloriousness of doing their best are all included in this message.

What a exciting Japanese professional baseball of Showa era was! Please read it!

I do battle whenever I must. A man should never give up and keep fighting, having no fear of anything at all. My formidable rival was Shigeo Nagashima, who made me burning with highest fighting spirit. No one else but Nagashima could excite me so much ,and I always felt my fighting spirit flamed up through my body.

I also had a hard time. One of them is when Shigeo Nagashima hit the game-winning home run off me in the Emperor's game. Yet, I had no regret at all after giving myself one hundred percent of my heart to win it. We lost the game at the special occation, but I pitched to all the batters with all my strength.Nagashima was facing me with his tremendous fighting spirit throughout the game. I had pitched using every possible strength too. The joy and satisfaction　of using every strength together were much greater than the result itself to me.

And, after losing the game, I burn my fighting spirit to win for sure in the next occasion. I got two commemorable strikeouts from Mr. Nagashima;one is the 1,500th and the other is the 2,000th. I wanted to get them from him, who was the best hitter in Japan.

Giving a previous notice about it, I felt like shouting “Banzai” from the heart when I actually accomplished it. "I'm glad to do the baseball.""I'm happy to become a pitcher, too."

Baseball is man's sport. We enjoy fighting in baseball game. As long as you hold onto the dream in your youth, Japan's baseball will prosper more and more.
